It’s a real shame Our President couldn’t have announced just as strongly and demonstrably that America stands with Palestinians as well. Before the monstrous Hamas attacks, remember that millions of Israelis protested again and again the hardline tactics of its own Prime Minister toward Palestinians, some of them Israeli citizens. Now we have our own President giving the man a hug, while Israel tries its best to obliterate Gaza. History has provided the world with lots of war hawks, whose dubious regard among their own people have been improved by the coalescent blur of survival, in times of unleashed violence. If innocent children get in the way and are killed, too bad. More rockets and bombs have never been an answer in a part of the world where the vast majority, no matter which side of the “border” they live on, surely want to live their lives in peace. More than one poll has revealed that when it comes to fair treatment, the world stands with the Palestinians as well as with the people of Israel.
